School Outreach Programme
During the month of January 2010 schools in County Kerry will benefit from the Shindig Festival ‘Outreach Programme’.
This is a new initiative by the Shindig Festival to help introduce primary school children to Traditional Irish Music, Ceilí and Set Dancing.
Dance teachers, Carolyn and Paddy Hanafin, along with a group of Traditional Irish Musicians, will visit various schools during the month of January and not only teach the pupils Irish Set and Ceilí dancing, but we will also teach the teachers how to teach the pupils our cultural dances.
This service is provided free of charge.
We feel it is of the utmost importance to introduce young children to our culture and let them see the great fun it can be to participate.
